Colorstay Full Cover Foundation by Revlon

Finding a good drugstore foundation has always been a rare occasion for me. Most of the time, I can’t find a perfect shade for my skin tone or the coverage just doesn’t satisfy what I need. This is why I always feel giddy whenever I find a quality drugstore foundation. The Colorstay Full Cover Foundation by Revlon definitely gave me the feels when I started using it and girl, let me tell you why in this blog post!

What do I like about it?

Let me start by saying my skin has been problematic these past few months. Breakouts have been a constant occurrence plus my chin and upper lip area have been dry as the Sahara Dessert! Because of these problems, applying a foundation has been a struggle. However, after tweaking my skincare routine and switching to this foundation, the rest of my summer has been sunnier!

Firstly, this foundation lived up to its name. The coverage is outstanding! I would classify it as a medium coverage but it is very buildable sans the cakey look. I would normally build it up on my right cheek area where most of my breakouts are and it easily blurs out any signs of a pimple or redness. Although you do not need to use a lot of product since a little goes a long way for this foundation, I sometimes can’t control myself on applying more because I just love it. If I do, I never have to worry about looking like a geisha because the finish looks so natural. It is also very lightweight so it sure feels like your own skin.

Revlon claims this foundation to last for 24 hours and although I don’t find that necessary, I am still impressed with its staying power. In a normal day, I wear foundation for about 12 hours. Surprisingly, I notice little to no changes when it comes to the coverage at the end of the day. Quite honestly, this is what I am looking for in a foundation because I have no time retouching my makeup.

The consistency of the product might be overwhelming at first because it looks foamy and thick but it would thin out and spreads easily once applied. It is also very easy to blend and even blurs out my pores. This foundation is also true to color and doesn’t oxidize so I never have to worry about an uneven skin tone.

What I don’t like about it?

Now, this is difficult because I have nothing to not like about this product. However, if there’s one thing I don’t like about this, it would probably be the fact that it clings to the driest area of my face. That would be my upper lip area and my chin. Although I can easily solve it by taking my time to blend, it certainly gave me a slight doubt that this would be a perfect choice for Winter when my skin is in its driest. Color selection is another thing that doesn’t impress me because the available shades are very limited. I feel like, Revlon can do better than bringing out just 12 shades but that’s just me.

The price also makes me cringe a bit because it is more expensive than a normal drugstore foundation but I’ve been seeing this pattern from a few brands as well. I just feel like they have to up their game a bit more since the prices are also getting high and high.

The Verdict

Overall, I am very much impressed with this foundation. I mean, it has most of the quality of a high-end foundation at an affordable price. Coverage, staying power, and blendability are all outstanding plus it gives you a natural finish. I also like that it is transfer proof so I don’t feel worried whenever I am wearing whites. Although you may want to reconsider this if you have a drier skin unless you are willing to take a risk. Since it came in a tube, this would also be perfect for traveling or to add in your makeup bag!

Have you tried this foundation yet? What do you like most about it?

xoxo,
