My everyday makeup look is not complete without a bronzer. I like to use it to add a sunkissed glow in my olive complexion. With my skin color, choosing the best bronzer can be a little bit tricky since using the wrong shade can make my complexion uneven. What do I like about it?

Bronzers are meant to add warmth to our skin tone which I originally found so intimidating. However, given the right product, bronzers can be your best friend. This is the feeling that I got when I first started using the Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer. I love that it has a little bit of glitter in it which adds a slight shimmer on my face under the sun or light yet it still has a matte finish. My favorite part about this bronzer is how subtle it looks in the face. It gives you an au naturel finish which is perfect for a day to day look. Sure it is buildable if you are looking for an even more intense look but this bronzer is safe to use since it is very blendable. Another thing is that it won’t give you a greyish or dull finish regardless if you chose to go light or heavy with it. I have the shade Deep Bronzer and it is a real medium brown color.

Physicians Formula is also known for using organic ingredients which is perfect for my acne prone skin. Since using this bronzer, I can honestly say that it has not caused me breakouts or irritation. This is probably one of the reasons why I am loving this product.

One more thing to love about this bronzer is its formula. It is buttery as the collection indicates thus the smooth application but I like how the product totally just melts into the skin. My cheek area can be on the drier side at times but the product didn’t cling on those areas which honestly is a life saver.

What I didn’t like about it?

My main complaint about this product or say on the brand itself is their very small shade selection. For this collection alone, they only limit the selection into four shades which obviously won’t cater all skin tones. One thing to consider is that many brands have been working on their shade selection as more and more beauty consumers shout for inclusivity. In all honesty, it is just fair for every one of us to find the perfect shade that matches our skin tone!

Packaging wise is not at all impressive to me as well. I find it very bulky because of the unnecessary second compartment that houses the mirror and sponge. Personally, I find the applicator impossible to use for the product making it a complete waste of space. Another thing is the hidden mirror which is very inconvenient. I wish they could’ve just opted to place it in the first compartment in order for it to be more usable.

Lastly is the strong scent! I would probably describe it as a burnt crayon especially when I first opened the product. It just gives me a bit of a headache which is why I nearly returned it to the store. However, I notice the smell dissipated after leaving the product open overnight.

Verdict

This is a decent drugstore bronzer which is perfect for everyday use. With a light hand, it will give you a natural finish mainly because it is very blendable. However, if you are allergic or if you have a very sensitive skin, you may want to reconsider this product because of its strong scent. The price is also a bit higher compared to other drugstore brands which can be a downside. Other than that, I would recommend this bronzer if you are looking for something that can give you enough glimmer and a matte finish.
