Five Effective Ways to Monetize Your Blog
Before we start,
1. Google AdSense
This has been the very first method that I used to monetize my blog since I decided to go self-hosted. The best part about this is that it’s free and you can create different types of ads depending on what you need it for (in-article, banner, etc.).
You won’t earn a fortune right away but using the right ads and learning to not overuse them is an effective and effortless way to generate consistent blog earnings monthly.
2. Paid Blog Partnerships & Collaborations
Paid Partnerships & Collaborations are other effective ways to monetize your blog. What it is is basically creating content for brands and sharing it on your website and/or social media to promote their product/s or upcoming collection.
Usually, brands will reach out to you but you can also directly send communications to their PR Team to ask if they are looking for a blog partnership. Whatever you do, it’s important to always share honest feedback regarding a service or product with your readers based on your experience and not because you are getting paid to do it.
3. Sell Direct Ads on your Website
Selling direct ads on your website is also a great option to earn some bucks! You can do this by putting an announcement that you accept ad posting or you can simply mention this on your About page.
Brands can then reach out to you and send you a link or URL that you can post on your website for your readers to see. Some brands may even pay you for the clicks that you generate from these ads.
4. Affiliate Marketing
You’ve probably already heard about Affiliate Marketing before and that’s because it is still one of the proven ways to generate income on your blog or even social media accounts. Almost every influencer also uses affiliate links almost every day on social media!
How it works is that you create links of certain products or collection from the affiliate marketer’s site and share it on your blog. If your reader uses that link to make a purchase, you will earn a percentage from their total purchase.
I personally use ShopStyle and RewardsStyle for my affiliate links and I find that they work really well for Fashion, Style, and Beauty bloggers.
5. Paid Guest Post
Lastly, you can also charge a fee by accepting guest posts. This can be compared to a blog collaboration but the difference is that the article that you are going to share is written by your advertiser or one of their writers. They will then submit the article to you to post on your website.
With this method, you are basically getting paid for sharing a pre-written article on your website.
