Rare Beauty First Impressions | Is it Worth The Hype?

Rare Beauty is probably the newest celebrity owned makeup brand to be launched very recently. It is owned by none other than Selena Gomez herself! Although I’ve been hearing some good reviews regarding this brand, I only decided to try it right now and so I think it’s time to share my Rare Beauty First Impressions | Is it Worth The Hype? blog entry!

As much as I wanted to get all items from this brand, I was only able to manage three items. the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight, and the Liquid Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick.

The Liquid Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick collection is probably what intrigued me the most out of all the Rare Beauty products. There are 12 different shades from this collection and I picked the shade in “Brave” which is a muted terracotta in colour.

This type of lipstick is definitely not something innovative since a lot of other beauty brands have already came out with matte lipsticks before. However, what I love about this is that it’s very light and soft to the lips to a point where it feels like you’re not wearing anything!

It’s also glides really smoothly which makes the application very easy. It honestly feels like clouds on your lips!

I would also say that this lipstick is transfer proof since I did not see any staining in my lips, face or my clothes which is just amazing!

The applicator has a really soft brush which I think is what makes the application easy. It holds the right amount of product to ensure an even application and no product is also going to waste.

Over all, I am impressed with this liquid lipstick. The quality is great and the shade is just amazing! My only concern is that the tube feels really light and almost empty. I’d like to think that it’s how they intend it to feel and not that it’s empty or has an insufficient amount of product.

Boy does the name of this collection so long! But to make it short, this is their highlighter collection which consists of eight different shades. I picked up “Transcend” which is a Rose Gold in colour.

Now, I am not a big fan of liquid highlighters but I must say that I was very impressed with this one.

Firstly, I love the packing! It looks and feels luxurious which easily makes it an Instagram babe!

The liquid highlight itself is actually easy to apply which I didn’t expect. You can either dab a little bit of the product in your hands and apply it using a sponge or very lightly apply the product directly to the area where you want to highlight.

The highlight effect is not blinding at all! In fact, it’s very light and natural looking which makes it a perfect daily highlighter.

The applicator is also easy to use since the tip is rounded. It has a spongy feel to it but does not absorb so much of the highlighter which allows you to apply the right amount of product in your face.

As per its longevity, I can say that it lasts for a good 5-6 hours which is decent but I definitely hope for it to last longer.

Over all, I love this liquid highlighter and it’s absolutely something that I will continue to use.

Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

Liquid Blush is absolutely a yes for me because of the NARS Orgasm Liquid Blush which is my favourite! I was hoping to get the same results with Rare Beauty and so I picked up the shade “Love” which is a Matte Terracotta in colour.

As per the shade, I can say that it’s your regular reddish blush which is perfect for a daily use.

Pricing wise I would say that this is in the median range compared to other blushes in the market but I thought that the blush itself is smaller than what it looks like from Sephora’s website.

As per the product itself, I would say that there’s really nothing special about it. I would honestly still pick the NARS Liquid Blush over this one mainly because of the intensity. The Soft Pinch Blush applies really rich and it would eventually fade after a few seconds which makes it tricky for you to control the intensity.

It also doesn’t last a while which is a bummer for me since I love blushes but I hate reapplying makeup a few times a day.

The applicator is also lovely compared to the previous products. The tip is soft and easy to apply.

Over all, I would say that I am impressed with the products that I tried from Rare Beauty. I definitely what to try more shades on the Highlighter and Liquid Lipsticks. For the Liquid Blush, it’s just an OK product for me but is still a collection that I want to explore.

Hopefully in the future as the brand grows they can add more shades across all the products as this is something that I thinks is lacking on this brand.

Have you tried any of these products that I shared today or anything from Rare Beauty? Would you recommend them?

Till next time.
