Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation by Hourglass

Foundation is definitely a key element in my everyday makeup essentials. Personally, I prefer full coverage foundations but at the same time, I am looking for a light and natural finish. This combo can be difficult to find but the Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation by Hourglass proved me wrong! If you are out looking for your new beauty holy grail then this post is for you!

Before we go with the Nitty Gritty, let’s dive into the basics first!

Price Point?

The first question would be, “How much does this Foundation cost?”. Both Sephora and Hourglass sold it for $46.00 USD for a 7g amount of product. Compared to the usual price point of foundations, this actually sounds fair. However, the amount of product can be debatable since you are getting a more compact and solid product than a weightless liquid form.

What it Claims?

This foundation definitely has bold claims and promises! It swears to offer full coverage but a natural finish! If that’s not already enough, Hourglass also made a point that this foundation is long wearing and promises 12-hours of coverage. This product seems to be ideal for every girl boss who is always on the go!

But the question now is, did it live up with its promises?

My Thoughts about the Product

I’ve been using this product for over five months now in between trying other foundations in my collection. However, I always go back to using this since it seems to work really well regardless of what my skin is going through!

I talked a lot about how sensitive my skin is and how I constantly suffer breakouts in my previous blog posts. This condition requires me to opt for a full coverage foundation to cover any scar or breakouts. Since I also understand that my skin still needs to breath to avoid my acne from worsening, it’s very important that I use a light foundation but one that can still provide my needed coverage.

Now, I tried a lot of other foundations for the past few years and I undoubtedly found a couple that offers amazing coverage. However, the majority are usually thick and heavy which clogged my pores and caused me to break out even more.

What did I like about the Product?

This foundation is definitely not one of those! It is actually light so it allowed my skin to still breath. Because of this, my breakout didn’t get worse which I find really important!

Another thing that I liked about this foundation is how easy it was to blend on my skin and with other products. It worked well with different primers and most importantly with my blush, bronzer and highlighter. This quality really helps to provide a natural finish.

Unlike other foundations, this does not lift off even without using a setting powder or spray. The product will most likely stay in place for a few hours before you need to reapply.

I also find that this is a good foundation all year round! During the Winter season, it was still able to give me a seamless finish. The product did not cling to my dry spots caused by the cold temperature and it still blended so well.

This also withstands the intense heat and humidity in Mexico since this is was my choice of foundation on that particular trip. It didn’t melt or messed around with my blush and bronzer although you may need to use a setting powder to help keep the foundation in place.

To give you an overview on how intense its coverage, here’s a swatch which shows how it was able to cover my tattoo with no effort. This was just one swipe which is basically all you need!

What Didn’t I like about the Product?

I do have a few things that I didn’t necessarily like about the product. One, I find that it’s pricey compared to other foundations. It’s probably best to purchase this during a Sephora sale or if you have a discount code. This will help you save a little bit.

Next, the product is not 100% transfer proof. This is a bummer for me since I wear a lot of white and I hate staining my clothes with makeup. I also don’t like to be too conscious about this when I’m out and about so the tiny stress is absolutely not needed.

The Verdict

Overall, I will give this foundation an 8 out of 10! I would also recommend it to everyone regardless of your skin type. I also love that Hourglass took their time to create 35 unique shades to cater to different skin tones and shades. However, they can definitely do better in adding more choices for the deeper tone side.
