Drugstore Beauty Haul + First Impressions

Drugstore beauty brands have been stepping up their game recently making it impossible for me to resist on indulging myself with all these exciting new releases! It’s even difficult to keep up with them because it seems like all of these brands are releasing new products back to back. Gone are those days when drugstore products sounded so unappealing. In fact, you can find a few things that are very comparable, if not better than high-end brands. The bigger catch is that they’re more affordable and can offer impressive results, something that I just can’t say no at! So I thought it would be exciting for me to share with you all this little drugstore beauty haul and my first impressions on them! Let’s dive in, shall we?

Highlighters, Illuminators, Primer, and Bronzer

Summer is here and I absolutely want to glow this season so I picked up a few highlighting products! First on the list is Maybelline’s Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in the shade Molten Rose Gold. This would be perfect for summer since it is not too blinding or glittery but is very buildable. Next is L’Oreal’s True Match Lumi Glow Nude Highlighter Palette in Sunkissed which contains four different shades that you can play with. All shades are very subtle which is perfect for a no-makeup look kind of day. Some of the shades can be used as a bronzer or blush which I am a bit skeptical about because the product contains a little bit of shimmer.

The infamous Butter Bronzer from Physicians Formula is the sole bronzer in this haul. I am super excited to start using this because of all the good things I’ve read and heard about it. The packaging just shouts summer which is very timely. My only concern is the scent! It is a bit strong for my liking and the worst part is that it smells like a burnt crayon to me. Hopefully, the smell doesn’t stay too long after application. I am crossing my finger here!

For primer, I got the Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer from NYX. Honestly, I purchased this because of the packaging but it still looks promising to me.

Lastly, we got the Covergirl’s Vitalist Go Glow Luminizing Lotion. This is one of their newest products which is supposed to be a moisturizer and an illuminator. I see myself using this on top or mixed with my foundation since it is very light to give me a natural-looking glow. The product is not glittery so I guess it’s safe to use it all over my face.

Lip Products

Most products in this category are basically just a repurchase like the Super Stay Matte Ink Lip Color from Maybelline. I picked the shade Heroine which is a coral orange color, something that’s lacking in my collection. Another repurchase is the NYX Liquid Suede Liquid Lipsticks which is one of my favorite liquid lipstick collections.

L’Oreal Paris’ Colour Riche Shine Lipsticks which was just released a few months ago is just one of the collections that I’ve been wanting to try. I picked two shades- Luminous Coral and Enamel Red which are both beautiful. The packaging is just beautiful and unique. I love how soft and light this feels on the lips which is perfect for anyone with dry lips. The finish has a bit of shine in it but it doesn’t look glossy or shimmery which is perfect for me. Lastly is the Shea Butter Lip Balm from Pixi in the shade Natural Rose. This actually feels like a regular lipstick to me than a lip balm because it is a bit heavy on the lips and is not super hydrating. This is definitely not for you if you are looking for something to provide moisture on your lips.

Foundation

Lastly is Revlon’s Photoready Insta-Filter Foundation. What’s different about this is the sponge applicator which looking at it now makes me very skeptical. What was I thinking?! I mean I initially thought it would help for a faster application but this will be very unhygienic in the long run since I won’t be able to clean the sponge. This is a serious concern for me because I have an acne prone skin. I, of course, have the option of returning it but I decided to still keep it because I am really curious about it but I will try to make it work without me using the built-in sponge on my face.

Have you used any of these products yet? What do you think about them?

xoxo,
