How To Overcome Boredom During Quarantine

The past year is undoubtedly not easy for most of us because of the current global situation that we are all in. One of the things that are making it more challenging is the need for us to basically stay home for the most part. Although some countries have lifted the majority of their restrictions, many of us are still living in a situation where staying home is necessary to keep us all safe. And I understand that this is not as easy as it may sound especially that we’ve been in this situation for over a year! Thankfully, there are a ton of ways that we can keep ourselves busy to help us get through this difficult time! Here are a few ways on How To Overcome Boredom During Quarantine that you may find helpful!

1. Change Your Mindset

We’ll discuss a few physical activities that you can do later on but I really want to encourage everyone to change their mindset about quarantine first and for most. Again, I understand that it’s not easy and we just want to go out and socialize again. At the same time, we need to think of everyone’s welfare first. Anyways, once it’s deemed safe to go back to normal, I am sure that we can go back to doing what we used to do.

In the meantime, take this time as an opportunity to grow either alone or with a loved one! Appreciate the fact that you still have the resources to have a comfortable stay at the comfort of your own home!

2. Develop New Skills

Remember all the things that you wanted to learn a year ago but just couldn’t find the time to do so? Well, now is the perfect chance to do it! Whether you want to start baking, sewing, or be a Microsoft wizard, you have so much time in your hands to develop new skills.

3. Find Ways to Expand Your Knowledge

One of the positive effects that this current pandemic has given us is the increased availability of many resources online. This means you don’t really have to spend a ton if you want to take some courses or learn new things regarding your career or the career that you aspire.

With this opportunity and the extra time you have in your hand, you should find ways to expand your knowledge about topics or areas that you think is beneficial for your personal and career growth.

Allocating at least 30 minutes every day for learning will also keep you motivated to work harder towards achieving your goals!

4. Have A Regular Communication With Your Loved Ones

This is most important if you live alone or have family members living abroad. I personally know a few people that live on their own and it’s not a pleasant situation to be in especially if you already have a small social circle.
Keeping the communication constant will not only help you get by but will also help you mentally and emotionally.

5. Develop A New Hobby

Ever get asked what your hobbies are and you literally cannot give any answer? Well, it’s time to change that! I know a lot of us became painters, cooks, plant mamas, and TikTok creators this past year and if you haven’t developed a new hobby then you may want to rethink that (or not!)

Cultivate your mind with the things that interest you or something that you’ve been wanting to learn or try and just do it! Who knows, this new hobby might generate you a new career or better yet a start-up business!

6. Invest In Yourself

The majority of what I mentioned earlier is already investing in yourself so I guess I just want to add a few more ways that you can do to keep yourself preoccupied whilst quarantining.

Firstly, invest in your well-being. This means doing things to keep yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy. You can either do at-home workouts, yoga, meditation just to name a few.

Another thing is to allow yourself to feel and be “lazy”. With this, I basically mean to let yourself take that extra nap, watch Netflix all day or basically do nothing but relax. Doing this is also healthy in a way that you are giving yourself some time to rejuvenate!

Till next time,
