As we all hope to find ourselves in the end of this quarantine period, staying home at the moment is the best help that we can offer to our community. However, the stress of the uncertainty may get to us at some point. So to continue sharing positive thoughts to all of you, here are a few things on How to Cope During the Quarantine Period that you may find helpful!
How to Cope During the Quarantine Period
1. Self-Care
You’ve probably heard this a lot during this period and there’s a reason why. Self care should always be our priority but this is all the more important during this time.
Do whatever you think is necessary to take care not only of your physical body but also your mind and soul. Practise meditation, do some yoga, exercise or simply start taking vitamins or even eat your veggies and fruits!
Small changes like these are a very good start to taking good care of your entire self.
2. Don't Stress Out! It's OK to slow down.
It could be difficult to be stagnant at home if you’re used to having an active lifestyle. You may beat yourself up for not being so productive as much as you want but that’s OK!
Take this time as an opportunity to rest and hibernate. Of course, allow yourself to still do things that you can do at home but do not pressure yourself so much. Avoid creating deadlines if possible.
There’s already a lot of pressure out there and you definitely do not want to add more on your plate. It’s OK to take your time right now!
3. Start a New Hobby to keep Yourself Preoccupied
It’s the best time to start a new hobby or to learn new things since you are spending more time at home. Start reading a book, learn how to bake or maybe try some gardening!
Whatever it is, make use of this time to gain new knowledge or skills! Who knows, you might surprise yourself on how good you can be on doing something you never though you’d learn.
4. Enjoy Some Quiet Time
This might be difficult since everybody is home or could be very easy if you’re living alone.
If you live with kids or other family members, do your best to take some quiet time. Be it in the bathroom as you enjoy a hot bath or just in your room. You can can even use this time to meditate! Of course, this is easily doable if you live alone.
Having a quiet time for yourself is essential to quiet down all the bad news or stressful events during this time even for a couple of minutes. This may help change your perspectives or state of mind and help you focus on the good things.
5. Spend Time with your Loved Ones Virtually
It’s at this time when communication is much more essential. Although we cannot spend some time physically with the one’s we love, we still have a lot of available resources online that we can use to keep the communication going.
We have Zoom, Messenger or even Instagram!
Having a constant contact with your friends and family can also help you emotionally and mentally during this time. You can be creative during this video calls like setting up themes to make the interaction even more fun to everybody!
