Five Things I Want To Do Before I Turn 30
Yep! I am already at that stage where I am basically counting months before I reached the much dreaded thirtieth year of my life! Ridiculous, don’t you think so! I still remember being in grade school waiting impatiently for my 18th birthday! And now I’m here just shy away from saying goodbye to my twenties. But before I do, I wanted to challenge myself to tick more items on my bucket list. So today, I thought it’d be interesting to share the Five Things I Want To Do Before I Turn 30!
Five Things I Want To Do Before I Turn 30
1. Learn how to swim!
Crazy I know but at 29, I am very shy to admit that I do not know how to swim, at all! It may sound funny because I grew up in a tropical country and I spent almost every Christmas and New Years at the beach with my family and friends but I never actually learned how to swim! I tried but I always failed.
In fact, I can tell you more stories on when I almost drowned because of how much I loved going into the waters but it’s just not working well with me.
But, I finally got the courage to enroll in a swimming class last month and I am half way through Level 1 at this point. Yey! LOL. So hopefully, when I turn 30 this December, I’ll be able to learn the basics and can say that, YES! I can FINALLY swim!
2. To Travel Alone
This has been on my bucket list for ages! Yet I never really got the chance to do it. But, I know, I have to finally do it this year! I watch a lot of travel vloggers on YouTube who really recommends travelling alone and I personally thought it is a good idea because you are not only learning and experiencing new things but you will also discover and learn more about yourself, nature and from other people too.
3. See the Eiffel Tower
Eiffel Tower is the very first place I dreamed of visiting when I was just a little girl. I’ve always been amazed at how it was constructed. I thought it’s just beautiful! Although I’ve had colleagues and friends who told me that Paris or the Eiffel Tower is not as special as we all thought it is, I still want to see it myself. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say and so I prefer seeing it myself before going into conclusions.
4. To save enough down payment for my own condo or house
OK! This is a really big project that I’ve been working on since last year and honestly, it’s tough! Real State here in Montreal is getting expensive as the year goes by so it’s really difficult to catch up especially for a single person like me. However, I am half way through the price point that I am aiming at so hopefully by the end of this year, I can save enough money for the down payment.
Once I am able to attain that, I am planning to save more for probably six more months before making a purchase so I’d have security blanket for taxes and other expenses. I’d be shouldering all the bills on my own so I wanted to prepare myself rather than dig myself in a financial strain.
5. Publish an E-book
Now, this is another project that I really wanted to accomplish and I am pushing myself to finally do it before I turn 30. Why? Because writing is very important to me. I see it as a part of my journey. As I grow older, I wanted to develop and explore more in terms of writing. Publishing an e-book would be such an accomplishment and a bold move for me.
I recognize though that it’s not easy so I’d take my time to learn more about it before finally publishing one hopefully by November!
And there you go, that the five things that I want to do before I turn 30! Pretty rough, yeah? Maybe but we have to constantly challenge ourselves!
How about you, what are the things that you would want to do before your next birthday?
Till next time,

Thirty seems really young to someone like me 🙂 I’ve done all five, but I never really caught on to swimming.
