“The Short Trek to Mount Kalugong”
Just a few days ago, I was (finally) able to experience trekking with a good friend. Since I am not an outdoor person, we chose to climb Mt. Kalugong since the trek is very much ideal for a beginner in hiking or trekking just like us.
Mount Kalugong is located in Tawang, La Trinidad, Benguet here in the Philippines. It is just a few minutes away from the City of Baguio. It is also one of the most famous mountains in Benguet since many locals and foreign tourists are visiting the area.
How to get here:
We rode a jeepney bound to Tomay (the jeepney station can be found beside the Baguio Center Mall) and asked the driver to get us off at Benguet Memorial Services in Barangay Cruz. When we got there, we just asked specific directions from the residents.
The trek:
Our trek started immediately after the driver drop us off along the road. We just followed the cemented road all the way up. It was very steep which is very much typical here in the Cordilleras.
After the long walk, we finally arrived at the entrance.
After paying P50.00 entrance fee we continued the trek and arrived first at the picnic area.
This is the only area in the whole palce where eating is allowed. You can also try the swings made of rubbers or simply have a photo session with your group.
You can also see some native huts at the picnic area.
After our small break, we continued our trek and we were greeted by these beautiful sceneries.
The main attractions at Mount Kalugong are the beautiful rock formations. It is a bit difficult and scary to cross one rock to another but the view are all worth it.
It is also very ideal to take some really nice pictures for souvenir just like what me and my friend did.
There is also a wooden cafe in the vicinity where you can enjoy a few drinks.
Over all, the trek going to Mount Kalugong was really fun. Although it was short and easy, the view and all the sceneries made it all a very nice experience.
Much love❤❤,
