Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder
Setting Powders are one of my makeup essentials during Summertime. This does not only help to make my makeup last but it also helps me manage any oiliness in my t-zone area. I recently switch to the Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder by Fenty Beauty and so far, it’s working well with me! So today, allow me to share a detailed review of my experience using the product and whether or not this could be your next holy grail!
Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder
What is it?
The Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder is a loose setting powder that is superfine and weightless. It helps prolong makeup wear while giving you a filtered and photo ready finish.
Price?
This powder is currently available in two sizes. The regular size (28 g) is sold for $32.00 USD whilst the mini version (7.8 g) is sold for $18.00 USD.
What do I like about it?
I use this powder mainly to set my foundation. I really like that it is very finely milled so it does not only leave my skin looking smooth but it also does not cling to my dry spots. This is a really important effect for me since my skin could be very tricky to work with when it comes to powders.
I also like how it visibly blurs my pores most especially in my cheek area where they’re mostly visible. Since I use this right after my foundation, it helps create a smoother base before applying my blush and bronzer. But most importantly, I love how the powder doesn’t leave a white case all over my face and especially under my eye!
Since I mostly wear makeup at least 10 hours a day and I hate retouching, I prefer makeup products that either really lasts or helps my makeup last for as long as it could. Thankfully, this powder is doing a good job in prolonging my makeup wear! At the end of the day, I love how my blush is still intact and visible.
Now, I have this in the shade Banana which is supposed to be brightening. Although I cannot say that the brightening effect is really strong, it is still there. Personally, I prefer it to be subtle so you can still achieve a more natural look.
Swatch
As I mentioned earlier, this powder is very finely milled and almost disappears when applied to the skin. Its texture is really soft which is probably why it’s very effective when it comes to blurring your pores.
It’s also very light so it won’t give you the feeling that you are actually wearing any makeup.
What didn’t I like about it?
This powder is just one of my many favourites from Fenty Beauty, however, I would have to say that I won’t be repurchasing this. Unless of course, Rihanna decides to reformulate its ingredients. I am just disappointed that this contains talc which as we all know could be damaging to the lungs. I wish I read the ingredients before making the purchase but my excitement got a hold of me first!
But since I honestly like the product, I will still continue to use it on and off until I finish the entire bottle. This will at least reduce my exposure to talc.
Other than the ingredient, I am also a bit disappointed that the mattifying effect does not last a while. Since it’s the Summertime and the temperature is rising, my skin is producing more oils. My t-zone can be extremely oily and I was hoping that this powder will help me regulate this. Unfortunately, it didn’t! I mean, it does have a mattifying effect but it probably only lasts for five hours which is a big bummer for me.
The Verdict
Overall, I would recommend this setting powder if you are not sensitive to talc. In addition to this, it’s important to know that this setting powder also contains fragrance. Personally, it does not bother me since it is not too strong but it may not be for you if you are allergic to fragrance or if you have extremely sensitive skin.
But it does what it’s supposed to do and the price is very reasonable especially with the amount of product that you are getting. I really like how generous Fenty Beauty was with their sizing in this powder so you’ll definitely get your money’s worth and more!
If you have oily skin, it’s probably better for you to wear this during the colder seasons and choose a powder with a longer mattifying effect during the Summer especially if you are always on the go.
But, if you have dry skin, this might be a really good powder for you this Summer!
Have you tried this setting powder? What are your thoughts about it?
Till next time,
