Skincare Products I Regret Buying

Every skincare brand claim to have found the perfect ingredient and formula to solve all our skin problems. Through advertisements, we are promised a smoother, younger looking and an almost perfect skin. Being someone with a problematic skin, these promises can be really enticing. Making me believe that a magical cream or oil does exist to improve my skin. However, we all know that this isn’t true. Sadly, finding a skincare product that actually works is a difficult task. This does not only cause us to waste time but most importantly our hard-earned money. Today, let me share a few Skincare Products I Regret Buying that may help you save some dollars!

Pixi Skintreats Rose Cream Cleanser

What it claims:

A cream cleanser with mineral-rich mud that cleanses, strengthen and soften skin.

Why I don’t like it:

I shared a review about this cleanser a few months ago and my views about it didn’t change. I was really excited about this product since I saw it at the store but because of its claims and seemingly good ingredients. However, after a few uses, I immediately realize that this is a bad purchase. One, it doesn’t cleanse my skin thoroughly. I feel like I always have to use a second cleanser to make sure that all makeup and dirt are removed properly from my skin. Two, it failed to make my skin look and feel softer even after a few months of continued use.

In my honest opinion, I feel that this cleanser is a total rip-off for $18.00 CAD. There are so many effective cleansers in the market that sells for under $10.00 CAD and you know that you didn’t waste your money.

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil

What it claims:

A cleansing oil that dissolves face makeup, oil and impurities.

Why I don’t like it:

I got this cleansing oil a few months ago when I am trying to get serious about double cleansing to hopefully improve my skin. My choice at that time was either this or the Shiseido Cleansing Oil but I opted for this one since it was a bit cheaper. Immediately after one us, I realized that I made a big mistake. Although it was very effective on removing my eye makeup (which was why I decided to keep it), I didn’t like how it irritated my eyes. It’ll cloud my eyes with makeup even if I wipe it off with a water-based makeup remover which is very uncomfortable.

AMOREPACIFIC Treatment Enzyme Peel

What it claims:

A gentle exfoliating powder that is formulated with papaya enzymes to brighten dark spots. It also helps to even out your skin tone and to soften skin.

Why I don’t like it:

This is one of my most expensive skincare product so it was such a letdown. I even read and watch a lot of reviews before making the purchase but it just didn’t work for me. I have been using it consistently for over 6 months yet the results are nowhere to find. Because of my acne-prone skin, I have a few dark spots and acne scarring in my cheek and chin area but this didn’t help to brighten those areas. This product has a lot of promise which I use an excuse for the $66.00 CAD price tag but I guess failed. I gave it a few chances but then again, I didn’t find it to do anything for my skin.

Purederm Pore Clean Charcoal Peel-off Mask

What it claims:

A peel-off mask that’s infused with Charcoal and Black Food Complex that deeply cleanses your pore.

Why I don’t like it:

I purchased this mask from a Korean beauty store early this year. Although I do not know the brand, I decided to give this mask a try. It actually does remove whiteheads and blackheads but not completely. I still see visible whiteheads around my nose which it failed to remove. Compared to other peel-off masks, this was super easy to take off from my skin which was probably why it didn’t properly cleanse my pores.

Instead of purchasing this mask, I would either buy the nose strip ones or create my one mask by mixing a glue and a black charcoal powder. It’s cheaper and works way better.

L’Oreal Pure Clay Masks

What it claims:

All the four kinds promise to smooth, cleanse and improve skin.

Why I don’t like it:

This collection was all over social media during its release. I was immediately curious and jump in to try three (yellow, black and red) out of the four masks. But, because of my skin type, all three masks didn’t deliver. I have a combination skin and this mask ended up drying out my entire face. Not only that, but I also didn’t see any immediate results after every use. This may be perfect for people with oily skin but definitely not for dry skin.

Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera (80% Emulsion)

alt=

What it claims:

Aloe Vera infused moisturizer that brightens and soothe dull skin.

Why I don’t like it:

Out of all the products in this list, this moisturizer is the only one that I haven’t used consistently. My dislike for this moisturizer is not because of the product itself but because of the packaging. It came in a hard plastic bottle which you are supposed to squeeze to take out the product. Since the bottle is really hard to press, it makes it very impossible to get any of the product without hurting yourself. This is such a waste honestly! I may need to transfer it to another container by breaking off the bottle but I just think that it’s way smarted if this came with a pump.

Physicians Formula Charcoal Detox Cleansing Stick

alt=Review Skincare Products I Regret Buying

What it claims:

A revolutionary deep-pore cleansing stick made of purifying charcoal. It removes dirt, oil and any impurities for a cleaner and softer skin.

Why I don’t like it:

This cleanser is very convenient and has a lot of promise that targets what I personally need. However, the formula is really bad. It feels so sticky to the skin which makes it impossible to use even with a moist skin. Just like the Rose Cream Cleanser, I always need to use a second cleanser after using this for a deeper cleansing. It’s also not very hygienic since you have to directly press the stick to your skin which may transfer makeup to the product. This beats the whole purpose of cleansing in my opinion.

Have you used any of these products? Would you recommend them?
