The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution

Having a sensitive and acne prone skin can sometimes be a challenge since I had to always be cautious on the products that I use. This is not always easy and so for a while, my skin care essentials mostly comprises products for trial and error. I was able to find a few products that works best for my skin type but I am still searching for more additions that will hopefully help to repair my skin issues.

One of my newest discoveries is the 2% Salicylic Acid Solution by The Ordinary which I first talked about on my The Ordinary Skin Care Mini Haul post. This was the first product that I used from that haul since I was experiencing some breakouts a few weeks ago and I was hoping for this product to

What it claims to do?

This treatment was designed for blemish-prone skin and is supposed to help clarify skin and avoid any blemishes to appear on the skin. It contains 2% Salicylic Acid and Witch Hazel which are both essential for acne prone skin.

What I liked about it?

I honestly have so much to like about this product and I am glad I made this purchase! Firstly, the packaging is lovely. It is very simple but smart. I like that it came with a dropper because it gave you the freedom to control the amount of product that you want to use based on your needs, this is also very sanitary since you don’t have to touch the container with your (dirty) hands which may in turn contaminate the product. The over all design of the container is so minimalistic but absolutely Instagram worthy!

When I started using this treatment, I already had full-blown breakouts on my cheek, chin and forehead so I wasn’t expecting for it to cure those pests right away but I was wrong! I noticed that after just one use, the redness subsided although not completely but it didn’t get worse which is very unusual since this never happened with me in the past with the products that I used before. I also feel like the liquid was healing my acne from the inside because the pain was gone after about two or three uses. Just like any treatment, this dried my pimples but not the usual patchy looking kind of dry. It dried the pimple itself but not my skin or the skin around the pimple and this dryness will eventually subside after continuous use. What’s really amazing about this is that it actually avoided the acne to cause any scarring or blemishes on my skin which I find really outstanding because again, this was never the case with me in the past. I would normally have to sport red or brown spots from my acne for months and months before they start to disappear. This is curing my acne and reducing any scarring and redness at the same time. How cool is that?

Another impressive thing about this is its price. This is available for only $5.30 CAD on Sephora’s website which made it such a good bargain for a high quality product.

What I didn’t like about it?

After one use, I noticed a white discoloration on the area where I applied the serum to which made my skin look patchy. This can be annoying because if you do not conceal it well or use a full coverage foundation, it can draw so much attention on your acne infested area but this effect completely stopped after my second use so it didn’t really bother me.

The Verdict

If you have similar skin issues like mine or if you are looking for something to reduce the appearance of your blemishes or any redness or even scarring on your skin, I would highly highly! recommend this product. It even helped to completely cure my existing pimples in just four or about five days! I also notice a big improvement on my skin’s texture after almost two weeks of using it. Honestly, I can go on and on about this product but over all, this is such an amazing treatment and with its price, you cannot beat it.

Have you tried this treatment yet? What did you like about it?

xoxo,
