Kat Von D Lock-it Powder Foundation

Powder Foundations has always been just a Summer fling for me mainly because they can be difficult to manage during the scarf seasons. This year however, I dared to break that rule and tried to incorporate it in my Winter must haves. Although it still not a daily essential for me, this little experiment did change my thoughts about Powser Foundations.

Since I was so impressed with the Lock-it Concealer I picked out its powder foundation counterpart, the Lock-it Powder Foundation which I thought is the perfect choice.

The gothic packaging is outstanding and unique which is usually the case with Kat Von D’s products. The case also looks and feels so sturdy which is always impressive for a clumsy girl like me. I also like that the foundation came with a mirror making it a perfect travel buddy or even for a regular day to day use. It even has two separate compartments for the product itself and for the sponge, it’s a classic packaging!

What impressed me the most about this foundation is the coverage- perfect would be the right term! It did a really good job on covering my red spots and even my fresh acne scars. I find that I can use this alone without a need for a liquid foundation which can be a time saver especially when I’m running late. The finish is great and did not give me a powdery look even though the product is described as a “powder foundation”. It also blended so well with my skin, concealer, bronzer and blush. However, it has a tendency to cling on the dry areas of my skin so I had to work a bit extra on blending on those parts.

The only down side I noticed is that it’s not entirely transfer proof. I noticed a slight staining on my scarf and coat whenever I’m using this powder which I never experienced when I’m opting for my Laura Mercier transluscent powder to set my foundation.

Over all, I love this powder foundation. There’s really no question on the coverage and longevity. I usually wear it for more than ten hours and it still wouldn’t budge. You might need to reapply but I don’t find it necessary.

Have you tried this Powder Foundation? How’d you like it?

xoxo,
