“Product Review: Kat Von D Lock-it Concealer”

Concealers have been essential for me after over a year of battling acne. I still get breakouts here and there but thankfully, it’s not as severe as it was before. I still have a few red and brown spots in my cheek area which I’m trying to solve with the Truth Serum from Ole Henriksen and so far I’m seeing great results but for now, I’m always reaching out for a concealer to help fade or reduce any appearance of scars and red spots on my face.

I have been using the HD Concealer from NYX for my under eye but the Lock-it Concealer from Kat Von D is my current favorite for blurring the aftermath of my previous acne battle.

First of all, I really like the packaging. I thought it’s smart and convenient because it’s very handy and it’s super easy to take out and control the amount of product you want to use which is always a plus to me because it does not only save me time but I’m also assured that I’m not wasting any product. It came in a regular plastic tube but it feels really sturdy and the design of the packaging just made the product look fabulous!

•CONSISTENCY•

This concealer’s consistency is thick and creamy but actually feels light on the skin, it also doesn’t feel heavy even though it’s very potent. A little goes a long way with this concealer as well and it’s obviously because of the thick consistency.

•COVERAGE•

Coverage is amazing! It’s medium to full which is exactly what I need to cover up any blemishes. It is also very buildable if you’re one who’s looking for a fuller coverage. The name actually sums it all, it locks down any imperfections from redness to brown spots!

`BLENDING POWER•

Initially, given the thick consistency I thought that this concealer may be difficult to blend but I was obviously wrong because it blended so well with my foundation and other makeup products. It kind of disappeared after I blend it to my skin and foundation but the coverage still stayed. The only thing I noticed is that it dries quickly so you have to work it out as soon as you apply it on your skin.

•FINISH•

The over all finish is sexy! It looks very natural even after building up, it literally camouflaged my skin which is why I’m in love with this. I didn’t notice any oiliness or dryness in the areas where I apply this concealer which is always a good thing.

•LONGEVITY•

Longevity is another reason why I like this concealer because the coverage lasted a while. I did notice a little bit of fading after about 6 or 7 hours which for me is reasonable and I can just apply a powder foundation over it and I’ll be okay.

I would give this 5 out of 5 stars because it does what it claimed to do and I seriously can’t deny the coverage. It’s just a bummer though that this concealer is going to be discontinued to give way to the Lock-it Concealer Crème which apparently is still the same product but with a wand applicator yet I’m kinda hesitant because I’m sure thay there will still be a slight difference on the formula.

Anyways, this is still available in Sephora’s website just in limited shades that’s why I decided to share this review if in case any of you wants to get it. I really hope though that Kat Von D will change her mind on this one and still makes it available because it seems that a lot of people prefers this than the crème one.

What’s your favorite full coverage concealer?

Much love,
