“Product Review: Clinique’s Eye Makeup Remover Stick”

Applying eye makeup has always been fun to me but taking it off at the end of a stressful day can be a daunting task so it’s very important for me to find a product that can thoroughly remove any traces of makeup in my eyes without requiring so much time and of course one that I enjoy using. Currently, I find Garnier’s Micellar Water very much effective in this area and I love how gentle it is in my skin especially my eyes.

However, I’ve been so curious about Clinique’s Take The Day Off Eye Makeup Remover Stick so I thought I’d give it a shot. It is an on the go eye makeup removing stick designed to melt off any traces of makeup on your eyes.

I’ve initially mistaken this as a lipstick or a lip balm because of the packaging but then since Clinique claims it to be a makeup remover stick, I thought the packaging makes absolutely sense. It basically works like a lip balm it’s just that you’re applying it on your eyelids.

The silver tin-like container is also unique that can add glam on my vanity. Since it’s small and light, I can also easily carry it in my purse or pocket anywhere.

However, after the very first time of using this makeup remover (I use this it at night before washing my face), I initially noticed major turn offs making me question if this is a necessity or a total waste of money. Firstly, it did not entirely remove my eye makeup as the product description claimed. It did a very good job on removing my eyeshadow but definitely not on my eye liner and mascara which made this product completely useless in this sense because I still need to use my Micellar Water to remove my mascara and eyeliner completely. Obviously, this is a complete disgust for me because why would I add another useless step on my already lengthy skin care routine every night when my Micellar Water can do the job easily and way more effectively?

Also, I doubt that this product will last because you would always need to wipe off the product after every use to clean it up and to make sure that there’s no melted makeup residue left (for sanitary purposes) making you waste a small amount of the product every time.

What I liked about this product is that it does not feel oily or won’t leave my lid oily or dry. After wiping off the melted eye makeup, my lid is clean with any trace of the makeup remover.

I’d say this might be perfect to remove or correct your eyeshadow if you made a mistake during application or maybe an on the go eyeshadow remover without ruining your over all face makeup. I know that this product is really intended for this purpose but I personally does not find the need to remove my eye makeup while I’m on the move and besides this can be messy so who would even like to use this without completely washing off their eyes?

Personally, I didn’t see anything special about this product since I can easily use a regular eye makeup remover or a micellar water. This is definitely not a necessity or a must-have but it still an effective eyeshadow remover if you want to try it or if you wamt to use it while traveling. For $24.00 CAD, I wouldn’t recommend this if you’re looking for a more effective eye makeup remover.

Have you tried this eye makeup remover yet? What are your thoughts about it?
Much love,
