“Product Review: Ultra HD Matte LipColor by Revlon”

The hunt for the best liquid lipstick continues with this Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor by Revlon. This is probably one of the drugstore liquid lipsticks that I couldn’t wait to try after swatching it at the store. Unfortunately, I would always put this at the back of my list because for the past year I’ve been really obsessing with NYX’s liquid lipsticks so I didn’t really find the appetite of trying other brands until of course I’ve heard the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick which I fell in love with.

To say the least, I was expecting so much from this lippie but at the same time I was wondering why this never created any buzz in the makeup world but then again I am well aware that there’s so much underrated makeup products in the market so I still decided to give this a go.

I picked up the darkest shade “Infatuation” because as you may already know by now- I love dark shade lipsticks and I thought this would be perfect for Fall as well.

The packaging is simple and the container is slightly flat which makes it super handy and easy to hold for application. Once you open the lipstick, you’ll be greeted with a really nice smell which is something that most lipstick doesn’t have. The applicator feels soft and glides well on the lips and can also hold enough product. Sadly though it won’t apply the product evenly on the lips so you have to reapply it until you’re able to cover your entire lips or until you get rid of the uneven finish and this could be messy and time consuming.

What I like about this lipstick is how pigmented it looks when swatched and worn. It’s very true to color as the shade you see in the bottle remains the same when applied plus it’s buildable if you’re aiming for a more vivid finish. However, I noticed more Con’s than Pro’s which is such a let down because I really want to love this lipstick.

Firstly, although Revlon claims this to be a matte lipstick I find it rather glossy. It also takes so much time (approximately 10 minutes or even more) to dry compared to other liquid lipsticks I’ve tried before. Once it’s dry, it becomes sticky and I noticed a bit of clumping in the dry areas of my lips but this can be fixed by applying a lip balm.

It’s also not transfer proof because this tend to stain everything that touches my lips which makes me so conscious when I’m wearing my whites or any light colored top. I’m also a big coffee drinker so once I’m on my second cup of the day I already need to touch up so imagine when I’m on my 5th cup! The biggest bummer though is that it’s not long lasting. I think it’s safe to say that this only last for an hour or two then you really need to either reapply or just completely take it off because it can look disgusting with the little residue it leaves.
Over all, I am not fully impressed with this lipstick so I don’t really see myself trying any other shade from this line which is unfortunate because this has 16 interesting shades that you can try and I also not considering to repurchase. I won’t recommend this for an everyday use especially for the busy bees who doesn’t have the time to check and touch up their lipsies. I think this would be perfect for those days when you just have to run some errands but wants to still look done or for a short rendezvous that has no or minimal eating involve.

Have you tried this lipstick yet?

Much love,

Very helpful! Thanks so much for sharing. This lipstick has caught my eye several times at the drugstore. It’s a shame that it’s not that great because they really do have a nice selection of colors!
