“Vigan Travel Diaries: Baluarte”

Baluarte is yet another must visit tourist destination in Vigan. Located just ten minutes away from the city, this zoo houses different kind of animals, many of which are usually not found in the Philippines.

During our short stay in Vigan, Baluarte was the very first tourist destination that we visited since the zoo opens at 6:00 am and it’s best to walk around the zoo in the morning considering the hot weather in Vigan.

Unlike any other zoo that I’ve visited soo far, what I liked about this place is that most of the animals are not caged and have a wide space to walk and roam around.

Buluarte is also home to a few species of beautiful birds.

The Safari Gallery is also a highlight of the zoo since you can see a lot of mountain heads of real animals.

This gallery features the animals that the Baluarte’s owner- Mr. Chavit Singson haunted in various countries.

And here’s me any my cousin Marie trying to copy these Lions’pose. (?)

The place is also well kept and very picturesque. The zoo keepers are also nice, approachable and are ready to answer your questions about the animals.

Surprisingly, there is no entrance fee to visit Baluarte (a trend that I notice in most of the tourist spots in the city).

Thank you for reading!

Much love❤,
