“The Beautiful Sceneries of Mt. Yangbew”

Just a few days ago, I’ve shared an article about our short trek to Mount Kalugong. Me and my friend, Judith enjoyed that experience so much so we’ve decided to try another easy climb since we’re both new in this kind of activity. After surfing the internet we’ve decided to go to Mount Yangbew (also known as Mt. Jumbo) since we’ve seen some really beautiful pictures that was taken here and we wanted to see it by ourselves LIVE! ?

It was a cold Monday morning when we decided to go. We wanted to watch the sunrise that’s why we went early, however, we weren’t able to reach the summit on time so we only had a glimpse of it while we are still on our way. (Let’s blame it to my friend who woke up late! ?)

A view of the sunrise taken while we are still finding our way to Mt. Yangbew

As seen on the picture above, our journey to Mt. Yangbew started of on this cemented road. There were no signs for the right direction but we just followed the road straight up and asked a few of the local residents if we are in the right way. The road was a bit long but we didn’t even notice it since we were enjoying the view and we were (of course!) having a good laugh while many residents in the area are still probably enjoying their sleep!. (I hope we didn’t disturb anyone. ? And yes! we haven’t even reach our destination yet but we were greeted by a beautiful scenery!)

Monday morning vibe☀

After walking the looonnngg cemented road, we have finally reach the local Elementary School which is a mark that we are on the right way and which means that we are just a few steps away from the jump off area.

Once we’ve reach the jump off area, we were again greeted by a very steep cemented road.

After this road, we then have to pass a short dirt road before the real hike starts.

Although the way was muddy and slippery since it rained the other day, these steps helped us a lot to climb a bit easier.

Some sort of encouragement along the way!?

We are almost, almost there!

Finally, after about an hour we’ve reached the Summit and were again greeted by all these beautiful sceneries.

Mt. Yangbew also has a few rock formations.

You can also have a good view of Baguio City and La Trinidad.

And of course! I wanted to share with you a few of our photos! ??

And there you have it! Hope you enjoyed this not so long post! ?✌

If you are planning to climb Mt. Yangbew here’s a few guides.

How to get here?:

Ride a jeepney bound to Tomay in La Trinidad (stations are located in front of the Baguio City Hall and/or near the Baguio Center Mall.) Ask the driver to drop you off at Barangay Tawang (or be specific that you want to go to Mt. Kalugong). There’s a shorter way to get here which will take you directly to the jump off area but you have to take another jeepney from Pines Park in La Trinidad, just ask the drivers and they will tell you. We chose to take the longer way though so we could experience the whole thing!

A few information and reminders:

•Once in the summit, there are NO trees to shade you from the heat of the sun, so make sure to bring an umbrella.

•Camping is allowed but you will need to pay a fee.

More info about the rates.

•There’s another way from Mt. Kalugong going here, just ask the locals about the direction.

•Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy! the walk.. ?
Thank you all for reading!
