“A Short Journey Called Life”

My day started with a bad news. My sister sent a message on our group chat saying that one of my classmates from grade school passed away a few days ago. Apparently, he went to sleep and never woke up. He was only 26 or 27 years old. Sad and heartbreaking I thought, he is so young and still has a long way to go but then his journey ended just like that. No warnings. No final goodbyes. No words spoken. He just….rested.

Although we were never close when we were in grade school, we weren’t enemies as well. I remember seeing him during one of my visits back home when he smiled shyly and said Hi. He was always been one of the the shy ones, quite, reserve and kept to himself but never rude. I can even see his faint smile and hear his silent voice as I am typing right now.

I was saddened by this news but at the same time it raised a few questions in my mind.

“What if I die today or tomorrow, can I say I lived a full life?”

“Was I able to find the purpose of my life?”

“Was I able to leave a beautiful mark to other people’s lives?”

“Was I able to fulfill my dreams and goals?”

“Did I dare to chase my own definition of freedom?”

“Did I even dare to dream?”

“Was I able to conquer my fears?”

“How about my family and friends, did I told them I love them or even Sorry? Was I able to show them how much I dearly cared for them?

“Was I able to find genuine happiness or my days were filled with sorrow?”

“Did I even choose happiness or did I chose to bury myself with pain and regrets?”

“Did I took a moment to relax and enjoy every moment or was I too focused on bettering my future that I forgot to see the beauty of today?”

“Did I even lived? or was I imprisoned by my busy schedules and undying responsibilities that I forgot to actually live?”

Unfortunately, I answered NO to majority of these questions.

I realized, I am not ready to die. Not even close. But is there really anyone who is prepared to die? Maybe yes or no. I don’t really know but one thing is sure…

Life is a very short journey!

We won’t really know the ending of our story until it’s right in our faces. So the question now is..

“Were we able to actually LIVE during all these years, months and days of our stay here in this lovely planet called Earth?”

If you say Yes! then I am so happy for you. But if you answered No! just like me…then maybe we need to do something and I mean NOW!.

I am not implying for us to be careless or to just trash every plans we have. I am merely suggesting for us to start LIVING. Do whatever is it that makes you happy.. really happy. Forget the opinion of others, as long as we are not hurting or causing harm to them then who are they to say anything about what we do or how we live our life? Life as a whole has a unique definition to every individual anyways, right?. Dare to convert your dreams and plans into reality, spend more time to people who really matters. Don’t be shy to say “I love you” and don’t be afraid to say “Sorry” when you are wrong. Always try to be kind even when it’s very difficult to do so. When someone wronged you, try your hardest to forgive even if it may take a long time. Smile not only to people you know but also to anyone you came across with. Share and create beautiful memories with your friends, family, colleagues and to everyone who is a part of your daily life. Understand others when they choose to disrespect you. Forgive yourself for you are not perfect. Know that mistakes and failures are part of life, these should not stop you to keep going. Indulge yourself once in a while, buy that new shoes or purse or watch or dress that you’ve been wanting for so long. You deserve a reward for working so hard. Dare to conquer your fears! Dare to try new things! Dare to complete your bucket list.

Above all let us LOVE harder. Love everyone and everything around us more. But most importantly:

Let us LOVE OURSELVES even more because if we don’t, who else will?

Let’s not be to hard on ourselves, after all we are just human. Bound to make mistakes. Keep going. Keep smiling. At the end of our story, what counts more are the moments shared and created with the people who truly matters to us.It’s the times when you successfully fought a rough storm. Do not dwell on your past mistakes. Past is past. Let us all live at the moment. Create beautiful memories and do our best to leave a legacy to everyone who have been a part of our short lives.

I dare all of us to START LIVING!

Remember, we create our own story.. so why not create a beautiful one?!

That’s all for now. I really hope you learned something from this not so short post. (LOL!) Have a good one lovely people!
