“Product Review: Pixi Skintreats Toner & Cleanser”

Pixi is one of the brands that’s been widely raved about in the beauty world but I haven’t had the chance to try any of their products until recently. When I ran out of my Nip+Fab Cleanser I know I had to run to the drugstore to buy myself a new one unfortunately though, it was out of stock at that time so I had to search for an alternative. That’s when I head to the Pixi counter and thought maybe it’s time for me to finally try a few of their products.

I picked out the Glow Mud Cleanser and the famous Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner.

I started using both around mid November and have been carefully observing my skin’s reaction about these two products.

My favorite which most of you would probably agree of is the Glow Tonic.

This is formulated with 5% Glycolic Acid and claims to effectively remove dead skin cells for a healthy skin. I’ve heard so much good reviews about this toner but opted to still buy the smaller bottle (100 ML) to try it out first before getting the bigger size.

I think I’ve mentioned before how I’m skeptical about toners since I don’t really see the significance of using one when you’re already cleansing your skin but this definitely changed my attitude towards toners because I’ve seen great results on my skin since I started using it.

Firstly, the packaging is simple but very eye catching and added color and cuteness on my drawer. I like that the container is made up of soft but sturdy plastic making it super easy to take out the product. The smell is very subtle so it’s something that doesn’t bother me.

Although this contains acid, it still amazingly feels so gentle on the skin as I’ve never experience any burning or tingling sensation and I didn’t notice any redness or irritation on my skin. It dries quickly which you may already know as a big turn on for me because I want to always save as much time as possible.

What really impressed me is how this improved my skin after just a few uses! I noticed that my pores seems to be smaller and my complexion seems to be a bit brighter and it did reduce any redness on my cheek. It just adds glow on my skin so I’m really hooked on this one!

Next up is the Glow Mud Cleanser.

The packaging is a standard tube with Pixi’s standard mint green color which I thought is really unique.

Just like the Glow Tonic, this cleanser has a distinct and a bit stronger smell which I’m not a fan off but it seems to disappear once you massage the product on your face so it’s forgivable. As the name implies, this is a mud cleanser making the consistency thick, creamy and soft.

Surprisingly though, this doesn’t seem to foam much which threw me off initially because it gave me a feeling that it’s not thoroughly cleansing my skin. Eventually, I figure out the right amount of product to use that’ll satisfy me but it still didn’t foam a lot instead it slightly felt a bit slimy (in a good way!).

The less foamy effect is easily forgotten as soon as you wash off your face because it leaves your skin super soft and feeling clean. However, these are the only visible good effects I’ve noticed so far.

This didn’t seem to help completely remove all traces of makeup in my face which is a turn off because although I use my micellar water to remove my makeup before cleansing my face, I still want a cleanser that can do the same job.

Over all, I have a mix feelings about Pixi based on these two products I’ve used. I’m greatly impressed on the Glow Tonic but have a 50/50 view on the Glow Mud Cleanser. I had to add another foamy cleanser to help cleanse my skin thoroughly which basically just made my skin routine a bit longer. I’m impressed though that these two products did not cause me to breakout and really did a great job on making my skin super smooth.

As for the price point, I think it’s a bit up there considering that it’s available in the drugstore when you can find other brands that cost less but can do the exact same job. Still, I’ll continue to observe how these two arw working on my skin and will eventually decide if it’s worth to repurchase.

What’s your favorite Pixi product?

Much love,
