“Product Review: Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation”

Foundation is one of my all-time makeup favorites but finding the right one can be a daunting task since there’s so much products and brands out there to choose from. One of my newest discoveries is the Luminous Silk Foundation from Giorgio Armani which you’ve already seen in my September 2017 Sephora Haul. I’ve only started using this foundation recently mainly because it had to give way for the Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Foundation which I was very excited to use from the get go. I still love it but at the same time I hate seeing this Giorgio Armani foundation just sitting around in my drawer so I thought I would start using it.

First off, the packaging is very minimal but undoubtedly gorgeous! The lid and the pump are made up of thick plastic which is very sturdy while the bottle itself is made up of glass which you can clearly see the product from inside. It’s also very lightweight and is a perfect size to carry around. The pump is very durable and helps to control the amount of product you want to use.

It is priced at $70.00 CAD for a 30 ML bottle which I find pricey since you can find a lot of lesser priced foundation that offers more ML (Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation and NARS Sheer Glow Foundation to name a few.)

I’m on the shade 5.5 which is intented for medium skin that has neutral undertone. I find this shade perfectly matched my skin tone giving me a natural finish which I find very impressive. As the name suggests, the consistency of this foundation is very silky making the application super easy and clean. It actually even feels so soft on the skin and I think that helped because the product just glides so smoothly on my skin without feeling oily or greasy. This foundation also did dry out my skin or caused me any breakouts which is always a plus. The coverage is light to medium but it’s very buildable without giving me a cakey finish, it still looks like a second layer of my skin!

If you’ve been reading my previous posts, you would probably remember that I’ve been having some dry spots on my cheeks and I love that this foundation did not settle or create any build up on those areas- it still blended so well with my skin. As for my oily spots which is my t-zone, I still didn’t notice any difference on the finished look, the product didn’t melt or break.

I also noticed that it did not transfer to my hands (when I accidentally touches my skin), clothes or scarf which is always a plus especially during the colder seasons when I would always wear thick scarves to keep me warm. I’m also very impressed on how well this blends well with other products that I use like a bronzer, blush or highlighter.

However, I noticed that this doesn’t really last the whole day since I noticed a lesser coverage after five or six hours. Also, I noticed that the product tends to break in my chin area and the sides of my nose after a few hours so I would need to either reapply the foundation or would use a powder to make it even again.

Over all, I would give this four stars mainly because of the low longevity. This foundation is on the pricier side so I would expect it to last long but that’s not the case on this foundation. I have no complains with the coverage or consistency and I love that this does not oxidize just like the Pro Filt’r Foundation from Fenty Beauty. I would recommend this to anyone who prefers a more sheer coverage but if you prefer a full coverage, this foundation may not be for you.

My skin with #nofilter and no other products but the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (Excuse my morning eye puffiness!)

What’s your favorite Foundation?
Much love,
